Class Descriptions

Beginner and Intermediate (Parkinsons/Back and Balance):
– Spinal and hip Mobility work
– Gait and postural focus
– Single leg balance exercises
– Beginners Hydrolates (Aquatic Pilates)

Beginner and Intermediate (Lower Limb/Knee and Hip):
– Quad, Gluteal and Hamstring activation focus
– Functional strength focus progressing to single leg work
– Beginners hydrolates and cycling efforts for body/breath connection
– Balance, gait and stability work for lower limb

Pre/Post Knee Rehab:
– Specific strength and activation exercises targeted for the VMO and other quadriceps
– Correct gait and balance alignment, progressing to single leg balance
– Muscular activation and ROM exercises (working for terminal extension and flexion of the knee, ankle and hip ROM also)
– Moderate intensity cycling and hydrolates for knee and hip alignment

Advanced (Lower Limb, Knee and Hip):
– 15 mins strength-endurance movement in the deep water
– Deep Water Running with hip/knee focus
– Advanced Hydrolates to breath with thigh and hip activation focus
– 15 mins strength and balance exercises in the shallower water
– Gentle plyometric exercises for bone health

Advanced (Back and Sciatic):
– 15 mins strength-endurance movement in the deep water
– Deep water running with spinal mobility and strength focus
– Hydrolates with core and neural glide focus
– 15 mins Shallow water work focusing on stability, control and mobility
– Gentle plyometric exercises for bone health

Super Advanced:
– 30 mins of strength-endurance movement in the deep water
– Deep water running intervals (30 sec, 1 min and 2 min efforts)
– Advanced Hydrolates work as active recovery
– Quad, gluteal and back exercises
– Low rest and high rate focus

SPECIALISED CLASSES:

Autoimmune/Fibromyalgia:
– Breathwork and mindfulness to start and finish
– Whole body mobility, stretching and movements to breath
– Gentle hydrolates and functional movements
– Balance and stability focus

Upper Limb:
– Shoulder and Neck mobility and stretches
– Scapula setting and postural stability
– Strengthening of the entire upper limb with use of resistance equipment
– Promoting correct activation patterns and offset muscular guarding

Special Function:

– Combination of lower limb strengthening, stability, mobility, balance and wall Hydrolates
– Carers welcome to join the class in the water

Private Health fund rebates available.

Land based Exercise Physiology sessions are also available (progression after Hydrotherapy); pilates programs, swiss ball programs, and Fall Preventions Programs. EPC and Team Care Arrangements are also available and encouraged (see your GP for referral).

Entitled Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients may be referred for clinically necessary Exercise Physiology treatment by their General Practitioner on a valid D904 referral form.

Capital Hydrotherapy specialises in hydrotherapy, aquatic physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Capital Hydrotherapy is a water based exercise program, designed by Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists to specifically suit an individual’s needs
